+ Why would I use Sliding Outlet Covers instead of a single outlet plug?
A Sliding Outlet Cover is much easier to use on outlets where one or both plugs are used frequently. These are much easier to operate than having to remove an outlet plug every time you need to plug something in.
+ Are the Universal Sliding Outlet Covers hard enough to slide open so a child can’t figure it out?
Yes, the spring that keeps the “door” closed is hard enough to make it very difficult for a child to defeat, especially a younger child. However, with a two or three prong plug in your hand, it’s not hard for an adult to push the "door" to the side and insert the plug.
+ What is the size of the Universal Sliding Outlet Covers? I want to make sure they won’t be too small to cover the hole in the drywall.
They are 3 1/8” x 4 7/8”, which is bigger in size than normal outlet covers in order to cover any imperfections around the outlet in the drywall or paint.
+ What is the difference between a Standard outlet with one screw and a Decora outlet with two screws?
The only difference is the appearance of the outlet and how many screws are used to secure the cover.
+ Do the Sliding Outlet Covers fit both Standard and Decora outlets?
Yes, our Universal Sliding Outlet Covers fit both Standard and Decora outlets. For a Standard outlet, push out the cover plug in the center and install with the longer screw in the middle. For a Decora outlet, push out the two outer cover plugs and install with the two shorter screws.
+ Will the Universal Sliding Outlet Cover fit over a GFCI outlet?
No, a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is an outlet that reduces the risk for electric shock and is commonly used in bathrooms, kitchen, laundry rooms and outdoors. The addition of the GFCI mechanism makes the distance between the slots in a GFCI outlet bigger than in a regular outlet, so our Universal Sliding Outlet Covers will not work on GFCI outlets. However, we also offers unique StayPut® Double Outlet Plugs that are specially designed to also cover GFCI outlets.
